Our mission is to help spread the word about the vital musical and educational contributions that the Mississippi Delta has made and continues to make across America and around the world.
The True Delta Project began with a 37-minute documentary film focusing on blues musicians, educators, business leaders, and Delta Blues Museum members who are working to keep the blues alive and foster education in the region.
Our early success in spreading the word about the increasing importance of the blues to Mississippi’s economic growth through the medium of documentary film became a springboard to the ongoing and expanded True Delta Project.
What We Do
In addition to producing films that create a living history of blues throughout the Delta region, the True Delta Project provides a stream of podcast interviews with blues musicians, a Blog with contributions from blues musicians and blues lovers, links to Michael Scanlan’s photography exhibits of blues musicians and the Delta landscape, and contributions of Delta-inspired work by local Delta artists.
